METARLAB

Weather, decoded.

Aviation weather is published in a code written for teleprinters. MetarLab reads it back to you in words, keeps the original in front of you, and never pretends to be anything the authority did not publish.

Open MetarLab

What it does

Reads a METAR and a TAF properly
Every group decoded from the raw report — not from somebody else's summary of it — with the code still there to tap. Wind, visibility, cloud, the runway state, the lot.
Knows your own minima
Yours, not a textbook's. Tell it what you will fly in and it says whether today is inside them, and by how much it is not.
Tells you when it changes
A message on Telegram or a notification on the phone when an aerodrome you follow goes below what you set, or when a new forecast lands. Not every hour — when it matters.
Carries the charts, free
Aerodrome plates and the VFR500 sheets, published by ENAIRE, kept on the device so they are there where there is no signal. A chart is most wanted exactly where you cannot fetch one — so these are free on every plan, and your browser fetches them from ENAIRE rather than from here.
Keeps your own charts too
The PDFs that are yours rather than the authority's — a plate you annotated, your school's material, something you scanned. Kept against your account so they are on every device you sign in on, private to you, and never shared with anybody.
Helps you pass the exams
Flashcards for the nine PPL subjects, on a spaced schedule that brings a card back just as it is about to slip — plus decoding practice on real reports, including the fog and the freezing rain you will not meet on a calm afternoon.

What it is not

It is not a briefing. Nothing here replaces the official sources, and nothing here should be the last thing you read before you fly. It is a way to understand what those sources say, and to be told when they change.

It is not a chart publisher either. The plates and sheets come from ENAIRE and are fetched by your own browser from theirs, unchanged.

Getting in

An account is free and takes a moment. The sign-in page says which it is today — some accounts are approved one at a time, and when they are, asking is all there is to do.

There is no charge for anything at the moment, and nothing on this page is for sale.
